Oxford Community
Student Voting
It is important that college students, who for the first time in their lives are able to vote, develop a habit of participating in all elections. We will work with the University community to make sure that it is easy for students to vote in Oxford so that this positive habit of community engagement and civic duty is encouraged.
Sidewalks
From the moment students step off campus, they can feel the difference between the sidewalks on campus and those off campus. Cracked and jagged sidewalks are a hazard not only to Miami students, but to all members of the Oxford community. We will continue to work with the Oxford City Council and property owners to fix uneven and unsafe sidewalks.
Open Community Forums
With Oxford City Council and other local elections approaching in November, it is important that students who have registered to vote in Oxford are educated about the issues. To that end, we want to engage candidates for local office and encourage them to speak directly to students, both on and off campus.
Community Service
Miami University’s Greek community and student organizations devote countless hours every year to a multitude of philanthropic service projects in the Oxford community. By helping to organize community service events and encouraging student organizations to more effectively coordinating their events, we will ensure that students are giving back to the Oxford community as effectively as possible.
